Cross Country Medical Plan

Your Assuria Health Coverage Travels with You!

The Cross Country Medical Plan (CCMP) allows eligible Assuria Group/Individual Health members to access medical services from participating healthcare providers in both Guyana and Suriname.

When travelling to Suriname, eligible members insured by Assuria Guyana can use the benefits available under their existing Group Health coverage. Similarly, eligible Assuria Suriname members visiting Guyana can access participating healthcare providers locally.

There is no additional premium for CCMP. Medical expenses are paid from the member’s existing health benefits and remain subject to the applicable coverage, limits, exclusions and policy conditions.

Benefits of CCMP

  • Access to participating healthcare providers in Guyana and Suriname.

  • No additional premium for using the service.

  • Use of your existing Group Health benefits while travelling.

  • Reduced need to pay the full medical cost upfront when treatment is covered and within the available limits.

  • Coordinated assistance from Assuria Guyana and Assuria Suriname.

  • Easy access to the provider directory through the QR code on your Schedule of Benefits.

  • Greater convenience and peace of mind when travelling between the two countries.

How Does CCMP Work?

  • Contact Assuria before travelling and request a current Schedule of Benefits.

  • Submit your request at least three working days before your intended travel date.

  • Review the participating providers by scanning the QR code on your Schedule of Benefits.

  • When visiting a provider, present your Assuria Medical Card, valid Schedule of Benefits and a valid national identification card or passport.

  • The provider will confirm your documents and available benefits before providing treatment.

  • Treatment that is covered and within your available benefit limits will be processed using your existing Group Health coverage.

  • If the treatment cost exceeds your available limit, the provider must contact Assuria for approval before proceeding. A Guarantee Letter may be required.

  • Assuria Guyana and Assuria Suriname will coordinate the review and settlement of eligible claims.

What Is a Schedule of Benefits?

A Schedule of Benefits, also called an SOB, is a document issued by Assuria that confirms your current health coverage, available benefits, applicable limits and the exchange rate to be used.

Your SOB will also include a QR code that can be scanned to access the current list of participating healthcare providers in the country you are visiting.

An SOB issued by Assuria Guyana will be valid for a period of one month in normal cases. Always check the effective and expiry dates shown on the document before travelling or receiving treatment.

When visiting a participating provider, you must present:

  • Your valid Assuria Medical Card.

We recommend keeping digital and printed copies of these documents readily available during your trip.
